I have taken all sorts of course on nutrition and health and to be quite honest it is all a little over the top for me.<br/><br/>I hear all sorts of great evidence to support eating carbs, not eating carbs, eating lots of protein and not eating any protein especially from animal products.<br/><br/>While creating more information for my blog, I can across a program that at first looked like another diet but when I actually read through the material, it absolutely blew me away.<br/><br/>The concept that you have to completely resrict what you eat and how much you exercise is completely false, and I sort of already had that feeling.<br/><br/>Heres the thing, eating more or eating less is not the key it is timing your eating so that you maximize your metabolic burn.<br/><br/>This explains a lot for me as a doctor because there are many times I have patients who say they have lots weight yet spent the last two days at a buffet table.<br/><br/>If you want to lose weight you need to cycle through consuming more food with less food. <div>The race to fitness is definitely on, with more and more people starting to become health conscious and jumping onto the bandwagon to lose excess fat and become fitter, leaner and of course, sexier.<br/><br/>As such, there are many fitness programs out there both online (such as weight loss ebooks, weight loss newsletters, weight loss forums, weight loss ezines, etc.) as well as offline (weight loss pills, fitness centers offering various fitness courses, weight loss centers, etc.) &#8211; these programs are all over (try typing &#8220;weight loss programs&#8221; in Google search engine and you&#8217;ll find millions of sites offering weight loss programs and packages), and people have spent lots of money on such programs, with hope that at the end of each program they&#8217;ll be able to get rid of their excess fats off their body and become fitter, leaner, slimmer, and sexier (as promised by these programs).<br/><br/>In this article, I&#8217;m going to reveal some of the more popular weight loss programs out there today:<br/><br/>1. Atkin&#8217;s New Diet Revolution by Dr Atkins<br/><br/>This weight loss program encourages a high protein diet and trimming down of carbohydrates intake. Dr Atkin&#8217;s New Diet Revolution suggests that for successful weight loss, one should feast on vegetables and meat and cut down on eating bread and pasta. The program also suggests that it is all right to pour in salad dressings and spreading butter freely.<br/><br/>2. Carbohydrate Addict&#8217;s Diet by Dr Heller<br/><br/>This program advocates low carbohydrate eating, approves of eating more meat, fruits and vegetables, as well as dairy and grain products.<br/><br/>3. Choose To Lose by Dr Goor<br/><br/>This program restrains on intake of fats, but does not restrict one on the intake of carbohydrates. Eating of meat and poultry, as well as low-fat dairy and seafoods is okay in this program. A green light is also given on the eating of vegetables, fruits, cereals, bread and pasta.<br/><br/>4. The DASH Diet<br/><br/>The DASH diet advocates moderate amounts of fat and protein intake but high on carbohydrates intake. This diet plan was designed following the pyramid food guide and encourages high intake of whole wheat and grain, as well as<br/><br/>fruits, vegetables and low-fat dairy.<br/><br/>5. Eat More, Weight Less by Dr Ornish<br/><br/>This program is primarily about vegetarian fare and strictly low-fat. It gives the green light on &#8220;glow&#8221; foods but warns on non-fat dairy products as well as egg whites. This diet, however, is poor in calcium and restricts on the consumption of healthy foods such as seafoods and lean poultry.<br/><br/>6. Eat Right For Your Type<br/><br/>This program is interesting because the person&#8217;s diet is determined based on his/her blood type. This program recommends people with blood type O to eat plenty of meat. Diet plans for some blood types are nutritionally imbalanced and too low on calories. And for the record, there is no proof that blood type affects Tone&#8217;s dietary needs.<br/><br/>7. The Pritkin Principle<br/><br/>The Pritkin Principle focuses on the trimming of calorie density by eating watery foods that will make one full. According to the Pritkin Principle, eating of vegetables, fruits, oatmeal, pasta, soups, salads, and low-fat dairy is okay, but there are limits placed on the eating of lean meat, seafood and poultry, as well as other foods that are protein-rich.<br/><br/>8. Volumetrics<br/><br/>This program recommends eating the same types of food as The Pritkin Principle but restricts fatty or dry foods such as popcorn, pretzels and crackers. This programs is reasonably healthy given the high amount of fruits and vegetables intake, as well as being low in calorie density and saturated fats intake.<br/><br/>9 The Zone<br/><br/>This program recommends food intakes that are moderately low on carbohydrates but moderately high on proteins. <div>If you want to boost your metabolism, lose weight faster and keep the weight off, you need to maximize your weight loss program and calorie burning to get rid of obesity, meaning stored fat. Weight loss diets are not the only solution to lose weight, neither exercise alone. An effective weight loss program includes the combination of a postive attitude, a balanced diet, weight lifting, aerobic exercise, and having the right nutritional supplements. Exercises will help you to keep your body toned and avoid excessive stretch marks for losing weight.</p>
<p>Let me clarify a myth about weight lifting that helps you burn more calories. There is a myth that weightlifting will make you develop big muscles. This is not true. To develop or build big muscles, you would need to have a detailed weight lifting body building program. However, practicing basic weight lifting, including dumbbells, will help you maximize your calories burning mode and tone your body, not make you look big.</p>
<p>Weightlifting, meaning using weights between 5-50 pounds approximately, will help you keep lean muscles, improve strength, muscle definition, flexibility and coordination to help you lose fat.</p>
<p>Lifting weights actually help you reduce body fat not only because you burn more calories during the workout, but also because you continue burning after training.</p>
<p>Hence, an effective way to maximize your weight loss program and calorie burning is to combine weight lifting and aerobic exercise. You can do this based on your needs. For example, when I started my weight loss program at 230 pounds, I did cardio exercise every day. I started with 10 minutes and gradually increasing to 60 minutes.</p>
<p>I added weight lifting later because like many, I believed the myth that I was going to look very masculine by doing weights. It was only after carefully reading and experiencing with a basic weightlifting program that I realized how wrong I was.</p>
<p>In fact, I started seeing better results with my weight loss program when I combined all five ingredients: diet, aerobic exercise, weight lifting, positive attitude and my supplements. Most of all, my skin was tighter, and I was not getting excessive stretch marks as others who were losing great amount of weight.</p>
<p>Body Nutrients</p>
<p>The other aspect to maximize your calorie burning besides doing your weights and aerobics is to consume between 15 -30 gr. of protein within 30 minutes after your workout for muscle recovery. A good example will be to have a whey protein shake. Also, drink water throughout your exercise routine to replenish lost body fluids.</p>
<p>Protein helps you boost your weight loss, increase loss of body fat while reducing the loss of muscle tissue. Since protein requires more energy to digest, it burns more calories and helps your weight loss process.</p>
<p>For example, if your body does not get daily protein and the essential amino acids on a daily basis, it will steal it from your existing muscle tissue. Moreover, protein helps you slow down the absorption of glucose into the bloodstream. In addition, it reduces hunger because it reduces insulin levels, making it easier for your body to burn fat. Plus, it promotes satiety, making you feel full, hence, having less cravings.</p>
<p>However, prior to your workout, make sure you consume enough carbs to use as body fuel and not feel weak by following an extreme low carb menu. For instance, if you love pasta like me, then, this will be the right time to have your pasta dish. Ideally, have your starchy carbs (pasta, rice, potatoes) before 3 p.m. Cardio exercise will help you burn stored fat.</p>
<p>Bottom line, you must combine all key aspects for a successful weight loss program; nutritional supplements alone are not the solution. They work as supplements to help you accomplish your weight loss goal faster while providing you with nutrients.</p>
<p>Another great way to boost your metabolism and set it for maximum calorie burning will be to drink green tea. Get your cup of green tea first thing in the morning, mid morning, and prior to workout. Besides, it will help you get rid of toxins.</p>
<p>Just do not forget that it is important to consult with your physician before starting any weight loss program.</p>
<p>Basic Weight Loss Exercise Routine</p>
<p>1. Aerobic exercise 3 times a week (30-60 minutes)</p>
<p>2. Weightlifting every 2 days</p>
<p>However, if you do not resist a 30 minute cardio, start with 5 or 10 minute session. Most important thing is to start doing your exercise. Enjoy it; do not condition yourself thinking exercising is a burden. Prepare positively, visualize the results, how exercising will help you burn that stored fat, develop that trimmed abs, toned arms, tight buttocks, and toned legs.</p>
<p>Same with your weightlifting program, start with 2 or 5 pounds dumbbells, try to set 20 minutes for your dumbbells or if running out of time, you can do your dumbbells while watching tv or taking a break from work. Bottom line, it is always better to do some exercise than none.</p>
<p>Hence, based on my experience and research studies, one can drop body fat by adding free weight exercises and practicing at least 3 times a week cardio exercises. Some of the basic exercise using free weights includes lunges, standing dumbbell shoulder press, standing dumbbell curl, standing triceps overhead extension, which is great to eliminate those flabby under arms.</p>

This means that weight loss is not a yo-yo diet, but rather an educated and planned program of learning, goals, nutrition and patience so that your weight loss is gradual yet permanent. Furthermore, it doesn&#8217;t have to be a painful experience.<br/><br/><strong>Educate Yourself</strong><br/><br/>A weight loss program should help you determine what your goals are for weight loss.  You can determine what goals are reasonable and achievable. You can be honest with yourself about why your weight gain has occurred and how to resolve the issues by making helpful and sustainable changes to your life habits in order to eliminate bad choices. Your personality type often makes a difference in what type of program for losing weight works best for you.  Part of the education process is to visit with your family practitioner before beginning any program for losing weight.<br/><br/><strong>Nutrition</strong><br/><br/>Perhaps the most important component of any weight loss program is to educate yourself about nutritional aspects of your weight loss plan. Regardless of how much or how little weight you need to lose, your eating plan should include all the necessary nutrients to keep you healthy.  Watch your calorie intake, but don&#8217;t let an obsession with calories blind you to the fact that you may be missing out on one or more of the nutrients that are essential to health and long life. Leaving out one or more of the major food groups can have long-reaching detrimental effects on your health and life expectancy.<br/><br/><strong>Exercise</strong><br/><br/>You can almost always improve the results of any weight loss program by adding mild or moderate exercise to the plan of good nutrition.  Even if you are only able to begin exercising by walking part way around the block to begin with, this will be a move in the right direction. In addition to helping you burn off a few extra calories, walking will improve your lung function and circulatory system. Firming and toning muscles will make you feel better even if you don&#8217;t lose a single ounce through your exercise.  You may just find that the benefits in health will be one of the life style changes you will keep, even after your weight loss goals are reached.<br/><br/><strong>Give it Time</strong><br/><br/>It&#8217;s important that you don&#8217;t expect too much too fast from any weight loss program. You may have been making poor lifestyle choices for years that have contributed to your overweight.  It is often difficult to make to many changes, even positive ones, at the same time.  Don&#8217;t let yourself become discouraged if you don&#8217;t see dramatic weight loss each and every week.
