Drinking and Dehydration Lead to Disease

There is one primary reason to stay completely away from alcoholic beverages of any sort. Alcohol is incredibly dehydrating. The human body requires a high level of hydration to function properly. Estimates on the percentage of water in the human body runs from 60% up to around 75%. Most functions in your body rely heavily on certain elements, such as water and minerals, to be present and in ideal balance to one another. When you drink alcohol chronically, you are also chronically dehydrated, unless you are doing an astonishing job of drinking plenty of water every day. And by plenty, for an alcoholic, I would say a gallon of water every day would be a minimum. And that has to be counted separately from any water included in your alcoholic beverages. So, if you drink an 8 oz. bourbon and water, the water part doesn’t count toward your hydration needs.

If you are drinking a lot of alcohol daily and also not drinking a lot of water, you are running a very high risk of early mortality from a variety of degenerative diseases.  These diseases would include: Crone’s, cancer, MS, lupus, stroke, diabetes, heart disease, atherosclerosis, Alzheimer’s, and dementia. Any illness or disease, though, will be made worse with the use of alcohol and its associated dehydration.

If you want to kick your dependence on alcohol one of the most natural ways to do it (which may also lead to a spiritual awakening for you) is to switch cold turkey to a raw foods diet. Within a few weeks’ time of switching to eating only raw, vegan food your body will advise you to stop drinking, and for the first time you will not only listen, you will be able to consent and obey with your body’s request. The raw foods diet detoxifies the body better than any other diet. It will rebuild you from the inside out because you will finally be feeding it the high nutrition that it has been begging for. Interestingly, alcoholism is actually a sugar addiction. When you balance out your body chemistry with the use of raw foods, especially a lot of dark, leafy greens, your cravings for sugar (and alcohol) will begin to go away. It happens fairly quickly too.

This is not a diet that you go on to just reduce weight; this is for the rest of your life. When you experience the deeply intense affects that eating raw foods have on you, and you stick with it for more than a few months, you won’t want to go back.

The Benefits of Drinking Vegetable Juices

Just as we are becoming more environmentally conscious and aware of the need to improve the condition of our planet; we are also becoming more aware of the need to improve the condition of our own health. As obesity has become a major problem in our country, we have decided to educate ourselves on what to do about it. We are learning what current practices in industrial farming may not be the best for the food we eat and the environment in which we live. We are learning why we may want to curb our intake of or completely eliminate meat from our diets. We are learning about organic produce and purchasing local products without over packaging. We are learning about the ease and fun which can be associated with having our own gardens. We are learning ways in which we should be eating and the importance of exercise. Nowadays people are wanting to be better and live better, and are finding that there is a money saving bonus in it all. We constantly search online for information on calories, fat intake, and healthy eating in general.

Many people know of the benefits of vegetables. Many people are even becoming vegetarians or vegans. Though becoming a vegetarian or a vegan are not bad ideas, they are both drastic life changes. Of course either option would probably be best for both your own health and the health of the environment. Whether you decide to go strict vegetarian or even stricter vegan, or just plan to incorporate more vegetable into your daily diet, the fast pace at which life currently moves causes people to search for the quickest ways to accomplish their daily goals. Often times these goals include exercise and healthy eating. People want ways in which to get their daily intake of veggies in and to do so in a hurry. Many people drink vegetable juices and often times make their own at home.

Depending on your love of vegetables, you may drink the vegetables alone or you may add equally as healthy fruit to sweeten the juice up. I definitely add fruit to mine. You can use your imagination and try throwing different combinations of some of your favorite vegetables and fruits into your juicer or blender, or you can search online for the many great vegetable juice recipes which live in the internet world. My children and I have had some good times trying different vegetable-fruit juice blends. This has provided us loads of fun and laughs at the not so great combination ideas.
